You know it's pretty bad when your daughter comes to you crying and tells you that "you have too much going on" and that "you need to cut some things out. You're stressing me out with all you do." That's what Kennedy delivered to me Thursday night as we were trying to get out the door to her soccer practice and soccer party.
Where do you draw the line? As a stay-at-home mom, I feel like I should have the time to volunteer in the classroom, be a room mom, be the soccer team manager, hold a church calling, get the boys to wrestling, do the laundry, cook dinner, etc. But why does it seem like I over-committ myself? Maybe it's because I show my stress? I try to stay calm but obviously Kennedy sees right through it all. Then I ask myself, what can I cut out? Definitely being the soccer team manager, after Thursday night, I committed to Kennedy that I wouldn't do that again. Then the question arises, who's going to do it? No one was willing when the coach asked and so I said I'd do it. How hard could it be? Harder than you think.
Eric tells me I have "use me" written across my forehead but I don't think that's the case. I don't feel used. I just need to learn to prioritize. Maybe I should take up yoga? Maybe I should get a job where I wouldn't feel so inclined to be so involved? No, that's not the answer. I enjoy being a mom who is able to be at the crossroads. I just need to breath and realize Rome wasn't built in a day.

It's really so true. I think this is something all of us "stay at home" moms will battle as long as we have kids at home and involved. With more than 1 kid, you just have too much "stuff" to do. It's like a love/hate relationship at it's finest! :) Good luck.....to all of us!
When you figure that one out... send me a memo. I could definitely use help there myself!!!! :) By the way, you are a supermom in my book!
Why do we all think we have to do everything???
Maybe the slow-down in the economy will slow your life down a little. Just remember to enjoy each day and each opportunity you have to be with your kids.
I lived through it all and so will you--the best memories of your life!
Ah, the joy. The problem (for me) is that when you sign up for these things you feel like you can do it all, then one day you realize you signed up for 18 things in one day and your kids turn into animals on the exact same day.:) On the up side, checking out your blog and seeing all the crazy things your doing is always a highlight for me! :)
I only have one little one and I really like somedays are way to full. YOu are a wonderful mom and a great friend. We sure miss you guys. Take care.Happy Holidays
